Cubs and Scouts: Tuesday 11th November

Image

Next week (Tuesday 11th November) the Cubs and Scouts will be meeting at Middlecopse (map and directions) so that we have the opportunity to light fires.  Please ensure you read the arrangements on the website to ensure that you know what is happening.

Arrival

Cubs and Scouts should be dropped off at 7pm at the entrance to Middlecopse, on the right hand side of the road just after the motorway bridge. As it is likely to be dark in the area please ensure that your child is signed in by a leader on arrival so that we know who is present.

Please try to be prompt as it will not be possible for us to remain at the entrance much after 7pm. If you arrive late please call us on the numbers below so that we can collect your child from the gate.

Equipment and Clothing

As it is likely to be cold and possibly wet it is important that all Cubs and Scouts have the following items so that they enjoy the evening.

  • A torch
  • Warm Clothing
  • Waterproof Jacket
  • Footwear suitable for muddy conditions

Both Cubs and Scouts should wear the top half of their uniform (Shirt/Jumper and Scarf) plus suitable trousers for being outside and getting muddy!

Please talk to us in advance if your child does not have any of these items so we can try to make appropriate arrangements. It may not be possible to make provisions on the evening and we may have to send any child home who does not have the required equipment and clothing.

Departure

Cubs and Scouts should be collected from the entrance to Middlecopse at 9pm (this is 30 minutes later than the normal finish time for Cubs). We will try to be back at the gate on time however if we are not there please wait until we arrive.

Extreme Weather Conditions

While we will be making provision to continue with the activities in wet weather conditions the facilities at Middlecopse may mean that it is necessary to change plans if the conditions are extremely wet or windy. If we deem it necessary to change the plans for the evening a prominent note will be placed on the group website (www.8thbasingstoke.org.uk) during the course of Tuesday. Additionally, an e-mail alert will be sent to all registered users. To be alerted in the event of a change of plan please register on the website in advance.

If you do not have internet access and the weather is extremely wet or windy please call Bryn or Chris after 5:30pm on the day to confirm the plans for the evening.
