8th Basingstoke Scout Group

In just 7 days we'll be at 2009's County Summer Camp.  We've checked that all the tents have poles this year!

The weather forecast is looking a little damp so don't forget your waterproof.

As the week goes on the weather forecast looks better and better. Now sun cream might be needed! 71 hours to go now.

Just under 14 hours until we head off to Summer Camp 2009.  The programme is planned, the weather forecast looks good, kit is mostly packed.

Tomorrow Scouts from all over Hampshire will converge on Lyon's Copse for a week of fun, activities and camping.

Just had a quick game of football before the Scouts cook dinner. Leaders one of course.

And that'll be why everyone is waiting for Jack! Imortant to remember times tomorrow!

Morning. Still no rain. Jack is up and washed - no sign of movement from the other two yet.

This morning we'll be making camp gadgets and site improvements. Plus the fun of kitchen hygeine.

Lunch time. At 2 we're doing some skills bases - knife and axe, map reading, first aid, camp blankets and fires.

Another sunny morning.  Amy and Allanah are up but seem to have forgotten to take any towels to wash...  No sign of the boys yet.

Today we have an all day Egyptian themed wide game. I'm sitting at a base waiting for Scouts to turn up - Scouts are hunting for clues.

About 45 minutes until the Egyptian sect leader is identified. They are between 30 and 60, aren't a chemist and don't drive a BMW. Most importantly they aren't from Basingstoke!

And they pushed Christian in too...

Spag bol for dinner.

Chill out zone is open for nasty drinks. Maybe a wide game later.

The weather's looking a little less dry today. So far a total of 4 scouts have beeb sighted. Must be nearly time to go round with an air horn :-)

A variety of half day activities today. Archery and shooting for the Scouts I think. Raft building for Bryn and I - we got a little damp in the pond and now have tea after a warm shower.

Now - after washing up for the whole camp - its time for an after dinner rest.

Wednesday means hike day. And a reasonably relaxed day for the leaders - except Bryn who volunteered to hike! Weather forecast is a little damp.

Very quiet around the site with all Scouts of hiking. So far noone has reported in lost.

Moving inside the marquee to shelter from the wind and rain.

Just seen the Scouts in Bishops Waltham - not got lost yet. Almost impressive.

I now have video of scouts doing "head, shoulders, knees and toes" in the rain.

Curry for dinner tonight.

Must be bedtime soon.

Just about time to wake sleeping scouts (Jack is one of the few awake).

Making lunch before the coach arrives to take us to Lyndhurst. Fun washing up this morning - the frying pan was a very dark black.

Just arrived at Romsey Rapids. Swimming at 3.

Leaders meeting done. I think the girls from next door have stopped chasing Jack. Nearly sleep time.

Doing branding now. Lots of smells of burning wood. Scouts are doing carving now and archery in a few minutes.

Alex is currently joint leader in the archery competition with 44 points out of 80.

Some shooting and branding for the Scouts this afternoon. Now a bit of quiet before dinner as they kept their site tidy all week. Jack and Alex still have their fan club visiting!
